Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
Factory Acceptance Testing is conducted at the manufacturer's premises before shipment to verify that equipment, machinery, or systems perform in accordance with contractual specifications and approved technical requirements. Testing is witnessed and documented to confirm operational readiness prior to delivery.
Performing FAT ensures that any system faults or design deviations are detected and resolved at the factory, reducing the risk of installation delays or failures on site.
Scope of Testing
- Functional testing: Running systems through operational cycles to verify performance metrics.
- Mechanical inspection: Checking structural dimensions, component integration, and alignment tolerances.
- Electrical verification: Testing control cabinets, cabling safety, voltage feeds, and ground resistance.
- Safety system testing: Verifying emergency shutdowns, alarms, safety guards, and failsafe modes.
- Performance verification: Confirming speed, output rate, and design capacities match target metrics.
- Documentation review: Reviewing user manuals, calibration logs, schematics, and calibration files.
- Witnessing of acceptance tests: Direct surveillance of test sequences by qualified inspectors.
